A final word (optional)

I might be inclined to add one final post in to tie the module up. This is optional, but you might use it to provide the reader (not just Mark Hetherington as the assessor) to outline how this blog might help your personal brand. Always be thinking about how this module can help YOU...

Please do not underestimate the importance of immaculate spelling in all your blog entries. You are training to become professional communicators. Every word counts…

Good luck with the two assessments.

References

I recommend that you consult the departmental 'Guidelines for referencing practice and use of Turnitin UK’ document, authored by Pauline. I have posted this on Moodle for you.

This is arguably different from other work you have referenced before, but you should reference all sources you have used to complete this module. It could be documentary evidence, books, websites, podcasts, blogs, photographs etc.

This is how you would reference a blog - https://www.bibguru.com/g/harvard-blog-post-citation/

Reflective blog entry

As always, please use your own words, but you may wish to note the following. Please consult my notes in the assessment brief for further prompts. This should be no more than 550 words in length. The prompts below are illustrative. You should decide what you have learned, how you have developed through undertaking this module.

I have developed greatly throughout this module. My first impressions were...

I learned a lot from my pitch when I received this specific feedback...

NB - if you have not made a comment on the post on the class blog noted below, either yourself or by proxy via Mark, this will affect your mark in both assessment one and two.

Video

This video is included to illustrate...

(This section will outline information not already covered in the podcast. It could be a video of you and the interviewees, it could be more than one video, a vox pop maybe, whatever works for you and your research topic).

It is always helpful to provide information to help the reader understand why you have included your video information.

Side note - this was the only video I had on my 'phone, and is for illustrative purposes only. So, Merry Xmas in retrospect, or when it arrives! I would think using your mobile works best here, but you can use what you have to hand. It should be 2-3 minutes in duration.

Podcast interview

This is the finished podcast interview.

The interviewees are (list who they are, why you chose the guests, what their roles are, if applicable).

The running order of the podcast is as follows: background music, introduction, interview with (state who), how it concludes etc. Every podcast will be structured differently of course, dependent on subject matter and how you want it to sound / feel.

The duration of the podcast is…

The software used for this podcast was…

The main points covered in the podcast were: (bullet points could work well here)

Remember, it must be no longer than 3 minutes.

You should either note a weblink: BBC World Service - Coronavirus Global Update, Australia re-opens international border

or attach an mp3, audio file etc. Whatever suits you.

Photo story

The photos below help describe what my project was about visually.

(Some will be taken by you, some will be stock photos). You will reference all photos not taken by you in the references post later on).

Photo 1 below shows...

Photo 2 is an analytical image which...

Photo 3 is included to demonstrate that...

Photo 4 is used to best illustrate... and so on.

6-9 photos are required for this post.

Background to my research topic - Covid 19

NB - Please use your own words for your posts, but these should serve as a working guide for you... (660 words maximum)

My research topic was on the subject of Covid 19 and how this was represented in the Scottish media.

The purpose of my research topic was to…

The main points I researched were...

The primary and secondary readership and listeners for this project were identified as...
